SUNSHINE Coast police have given a mixed response to an election promise of almost $1 million in security cameras for what MPs claim are the Coast’s most troubled nightspots.
A Coalition government would provide $2.1 million for extensive works designed to reduce suicides at The Gap at Watsons Bay, the MP for Wentworth, Malcolm Turnbull, said at the site yesterday.
The Country Liberals candidate for the seat of Solomon has promised to install security cameras in suburban areas of Darwin and Palmerston if the Coalition is elected. There are 109 CCTV cameras now operating across Darwin, Palmerston and the Casuarina areas.
