Getting Started with Your NYX NVR: A Quick Guide

Setting up a NYX Network Video Recorder (NVR) is straightforward, but making sure everything runs smoothly requires a few key steps. Whether you’re a first-time user or need a refresher, this guide walks you through the essentials—from unboxing to configuring your network and cameras.

Step 1: Unboxing & Preparation

Before you dive into installation, check your package for all included accessories. If anything is missing or damaged, contact your dealer immediately.

Step 2: Connecting & Powering Up

  1. Connect the Monitor & Power: Plug in the NVR, connect it to a monitor, and turn it on.

  2. Booting Up: When powered on, the device will boot automatically, and the power indicator will display blue.

  3. Wizard Setup: New NVRs come with a built-in setup wizard to guide you through initial configurations.

Step 3: Network Configuration & IP Camera Setup

A properly configured network ensures seamless remote access and camera functionality. Follow these steps:

  • Choose Your Network Mode:

    • Use DHCP if you want the device to automatically obtain an IP address.

    • For manual setup, configure the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS manually.

      • Network Fault Tolerance: If your NVR supports it, binding two ports to a single IP increases bandwidth and redundancy.

      • Multiple Address Setup: Assign different IP settings to each Ethernet port for customized networking.

      Connecting the Cameras:

      • Before installation, connect the LAN port of the NVR to your modem or switch.

      • By default, the NVR will obtain an IP address automatically, allowing you to use the Superlive Plus App to align cameras during installation.

Step 4: Logging In & Accessing Your System

      1. Default Credentials: The username is admin, and the default password is 123456. You should update this for security.

      2. Enabling Extra Security: Configure your account settings to allow pattern locks and customize login credentials.

Step 5: Remote Access with Superlive Plus App

To monitor and control your NVR remotely:

      • Android users: Download Superlive Plus from the Google Play Store.

      • iOS users: Install the app from the Apple App Store.

      • Navigate to Settings > Network > NAT and check that the NAT Status says "Success". If not, verify your internet connection.
